Rabbi Scott (Shalom) Klein

I am delighted to announce that Rabbi Scott (Shalom) Klein will be joining us as Beth Shalom Synagogue’s part time and temporary Rabbi. Educated at the Academy for Jewish Religion, Scott will guide our community from February until sometime this summer, leading services, providing education, and supporting pastoral needs. You can look at the website for the Academy for Jewish Religion at www.ajr.edu for more information on Rabbi Klein’s training.

We extend our gratitude to Rabbi Klein for agreeing to support us during this interim period as we embark on the search for a full-time Rabbi. With a wealth of experience as a U.S. Army officer supporting Jewish communities in the United States and the Middle East, and his love of Chaplaincy, he is the perfect fit for Beth Shalom.

Starting in early February, Rabbi Klein will be with us on a part-time basis, in person and remotely, offering a variety of classes and opportunities in addition to leading Shabbat services most weeks. His first Shabbat will be this weekend February 9th and 10th overseeing the board installation.

Holding a Masters Degree in Jewish Professional Studies and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Rabbi Klein is well-equipped to serve our community. Scott and his wife, Elisheva, both hail from Skokie Illinois and reside in Sumter.

We invite you to mark your calendars for this Wednesday, February 7th at 7 pm  for a virtual meet and greet with Rabbi Klein and connect with our Beth Shalom community. Please use the zoom link with this email for access. If you would like to reach out to Rabbi Klein directly, he can be reached at shalomklein@icloud.com.
